“You leave feeling exhausted, argumentative and exhilarated, surely the sign of a powerful film in any language.”

The director of an orphanage in India is sent home to Denmark to meet with a potential benefactor.  Revelations about the past and the present ensue, choices made in the past are considered, new choices are made.  Everything changes for a whole group of characters, whose lives we come to know and share.  Susanne Bier, formerly a Dogme director, has a very distinctive style which focusses very much on extreme close-ups - on the creative faces of her actors - many of whom she has worked with before.  A nominee for the foreign language Oscar, this film will introduce you to major creative talents at work in cinema today.
