Alejandro Gonzáles Iñárritu
Alejandro Gonzáles Iñárritu
“My responsibility is to make a film and find my dramatic language. Cinema is an infinite medium so we should take advantage of it, I think.”
Born in 1963 in Mexico City, Iñárritu was thrown out of school at age 16. He became a commercial sailor, which apparently encouraged him to continue his formal education. Whilst at college he worked as a disc jockey on Mexico’s prime radio station, learning, in the process to tell stories. Advertising followed until he met novelist Guillermo Arriaga with whom he wrote his first feature film, Amores Perros which received enormous critical acclaim around the world and launched him into Hollywood. Since then he has continued to collaborate with Arriaga on 24 Grams and Babel.
