Beautiful Kate

I was just completely bowled over by the emotions in this film. It's a very strongly emotional film, with wonderful performances.”  David Stratton - At the Movies

Helps redress a long-standing problem with Australian cinema by illustrating how fully developed, emotionally driven, three-act stories result in films that immerse you in their visions. Jim Schembri - The Age

It was a wonderful year for Australian film, and this is one of the best of the crop.  No it didn’t win any of the major AFI awards, but there was so much competition this year.

Ben Mendelsohn and Rachel Griffiths just get better and better - as does Brian Brown - and Sophie Lowe in the title role, just glows.  The story sounds corny - dying father visited by estranged son and his current girlfriend, gradually the secrets of the past are revealed - but it is done with such passion and beauty that you will be swept away.  The real beauty of the scenery and the transformation of people by events that scar for many years are tellingly conveyed.
