Breaking and Entering

“A thought-provoking and ethically charged film that greatly expands our moral understanding of the act of stealing.”

An up and coming young architect working on a regeneration project in London’s Kings Cross, has his offices broken into.  When the experience is repeated he sets out to find the perpetrators, resulting in his involvement in the lives of one of the young thieves, and his mother - a refugee from Bosnia.  The effects of this one event ripple outwards into the lives of all those around him, whilst simultaneously exploring the metaphorical concepts of breaking and entering - intrusion and stealing.  And, yet again, the setting - London in this instance - is central and a key character in its own right.

Sadly this turned out to be Anthony Minghella’s last film for cinema.  He died recently during an operation to remove a benign tumour in his neck.
