“when you make a documentary, you don’t control what happens or how it appears on the screen. You can’t determine the outcome of the story and what becomes of the characters. I prefer to have the control when I make a film.”

On the net there are lots of interviews with this director, but very little biographical information.  I have no idea what his family background is, other than that his grandfather was a baker.  He graduated from France’s most prestigious film school and his first short, Tous à la Manif won many awards.  His first feature film, Human Resources was very well received, as have been his subsequent features, including the Palme d’Or for The Class.
