Lian Lunson

“I learned what not to do first, and that covered a lot of bases. At least if you know what you don't like and what not to do...you have a head start. Filmmaking is a collaborative and creative process and often you are not sure what it is you want because you haven't seen it yet. Knowing clearly what you don't want to see is a good start.”

Lian Lunson was born and raised in Ned Kelly Country in Australia.  She went to drama school in Sydney and became an actress, working in several Australian films and television before moving to Los Angeles in 1987.  In America she realised that she wanted to make films not be in them, so set out to learn the craft by taking jobs in every aspect of filmmaking, culminating in becoming first a producer and then a director.  She is now making her first fiction film with Willy Nelson, based on a novel she wrote herself.
