My Brother is an Only Child

Mio Fratello è Figlio Unico

“nostalgic perhaps, but with that indefinable Italian whimsy that takes serious political themes and undermines them beautifully.” - Margaret Pomeranz - At the Movies

“The fey illogic in the title of My Brother is an Only Child hints at the style of this funny-sad film, which flips from dark to light moods and back with suave, unpredictable dexterity.” - Sid Smith - Chicago Tribune

The turbulent politics of 1960s and 70s Italy is here brought to life in the story of two brothers, politically on opposite sides of the fence but bound by family ties and love.  Although filmed with a light touch, there is nevertheless a serious undertone, even some tragedy.  The performances are outstanding - the lead actor, Elio Germano received an award at the Italian Film Awards,

Enjoy this warm exploration of difference within families and the deep divisions within italian political life.
