“In every way this gentle, delightful film perfectly balances the weighty against the mundane, delivering a true slice of real life that never loses sight of the battles all humans face trying to glean meaning from and keep hope in their lives.” Sharon Hurst - Cinephilia
“She writes about stuff that's real and direct and sort of normal - children, home life, romance, illness and always, always, the fear of death - but with a warmth, humour and emotional intelligence that's disarming. It's intimate cinema, almost home-made, but far from easy to do.” Paul Byrnes - Sydney Morning Herald
Sometimes life hits us hard with a sudden shock which makes us stop in our tracks and take stock. In Sarah Watt’s second film, a young mother suffers a brain aneurism. The effect of this near-death experience on her and on her family is what this film is all about. The reality of their ordinary suburban existence is suddenly called into question. We watch them move through the every day reality of life in the following year, as they change in ways they would never have anticipated.
