“while retaining some of the thriller genre elements, it uses the structure to say something altogether different.”

At first sight this film is a crime genre film.  A massacre on a suburban train leads to a search f or the killer.  But as the film progresses it becomes many other things, including a study in isolation - the isolation of the protagonist, a policeman, with tinnitus (ringing in the ears), who mans a van which has been set up to gather information on the killer.  The film makes creative use of the widescreen and has an outstanding soundtrack for which it has won many awards.  For many this was last year’s most outstanding Australian film and we are proud to have its director on hand to tell us all about it afterwards.
