Pan’s Labyrinth

Its dark poetry set to startling images, a one-of-a-kind nightmare that has a soaring spiritual content.

In Franco’s Spain a young girl and her pregnant mother move in with her mother’s new husband, a captain in Franco’s army.  Their lives become a nightmare, but the young girl discovers a labyrinth inhabited by a faun and many other strange and potentially terrifying creatures.  Often described as an Alice in Wonderland  for grownups in which “the horrors of both reality and fantasy [are] blended together into an extraordinary, spellbinding fable.”
