“You will laugh, you will be moved to tears, and you may even come away thinking the human race might actually survive without killing each other off, because there are stories like [this] to remind us that, deep down, we’re all pretty much the same..” Beverley Berning - Culturevulture.net

“An uplifting, funny, moving fable about the difference between the ideal of freedom and the real thing..”  Jim Schembri in The Age

Following on from the success of her autobiographical graphic novel, Mariane Satrapi joined forces with comic book artist Vincent Paronnaud to produce a film version.  She grew up in revolutionary Iran, spent some time in Austria, returned to Iran but left once again.  Although the images are stylistically simple the message is certainly not a simple one and has been a great success around the world.

Enjoy the difference of animation for adults, different worlds, different cultures and the experience of joy in even the most difficult of circumstances.
