“His films are dream waltzes, all liquid motion and mysterious turbulences.”

Sukhdev Sandu - Daily Telegraph

“Lately, when I want to smile, I just think of Ponyo. David Cornelius - eFilmCritic.com

Hayao Miyazaki’s films are magical things.  They are for children but offer so much more to a discerning adult eye, and not in the way that Hollywood maintains an adult interest, with in jokes and smart humour.  They appeal because they take us back to our childhood, involve us in the innocence and wonder of the world seen through a child’s eyes.

In this film Miyazaki loosely bases his story on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, but with such a light touch.  Beauty and wonder abound.  It may be an unreal world - a word where magic is commonplace, but nevertheless it is peopled by real characters and treats of real issues for the world today.

NB: This film will begin at 10.00 am.  Free lollies and drinks will be available at the door.  Members may bring as many children as they can handle.  The film is dubbed in English.
