Tony Ayres’ multi-award winning film is based on his memories of his mother, but is heavily fictionalised.   A young Chinese girl marries an Australian and tries to settle into her new home in Australia.  But all does not go well and as the children grow their life becomes increasingly disrupted by their mothers’ restlessness.

This film won most of the 2007 AFI Awards including Best Director and Best Actress.
