The Visitor

“Beautifully cast and superbly performed, The Visitor never steps off the mark either emotionally or in character development. Richard Jenkins, usually in support roles, rises to the lead occasion with grace and a marvelously restrained performance”  Andrew L. Urban - Urban Cinefile

“This is a film of our times -- paranoid, heartbroken, disillusioned - and the rare recent American movie whose characters react the way actual people might.”  Wesley Morris - Boston Globe

Once again we visit the world of the immigrant - this day in America, although in this case there is a slightly different slant in that the focus is on the changes wrought on the host country’s inhabitants by its newest citizens, or, as in this case, non-citizens.

Joyful and sad, this is one of those quiet achievers of film.  A favourite of many critics it has nevertheless snuck beneath the radar somewhat.  The central character is transformed by his encounter with different ways of living.  Enjoy the difference of opening up to the joy of empathy and understanding.
