Tony Ayres
“I saw the importance of creating a functional family of filmmakers … the more functional we were as a unit, the more coherent the film…”
Tony Ayres was born in 1961 in Macau, China but grew up in Western Australia. Home Song Stories is very heavily based on his memories of his mother, but is not absolutely accurate and has been fictionalised here and there. On graduating from film school he made several award winning shorts and documentaries, wrote TV scripts and eventually directed his first feature film, Walking on Water in 2002.
