At Croydon Film Society, our aim is to create a relaxed and enjoyable cinema experience where members can discover great films and connect with other movie lovers. We screen a mix of mainstream, independent, English-language and international films at Metro Cinemas Boronia, giving members the opportunity to see movies they may not otherwise discover at their local cinema.
What Should I Expect From My First Film Society Experience
Feeling nervous? You’re not alone
It’s completely normal to feel nervous when attending your first film society screening, particularly if you’re coming on your own. You certainly don’t need to arrive with a group of friends. Many people come because they want to meet new people who enjoy cinema as much as they do.
Once you arrive, you’ll simply check in, find your cinema and settle in for the movie. There’s no pressure to introduce yourself to everyone or participate in anything you don’t want to.
More than just watching a movie

You can also rate each film through the society’s Starbox system and have a say in future film selections. Members are invited to vote on films as part of the annual program selection process.
